It's Been Too Long

Wow! It seems like it has been forever since September (when I last posted). I finished Fall semester at Mt. Holyoke, and now I have roughly a week and a half until I leave for Amsterdam. I have received my housing information and my courses. It seems like I should be leaving, but alas I am still in cold and snowy New England. Most of my friends have returned to school, and I am now wishing I am one of them.

I am living in an apartment complex called Funen. It is located east of the center of the city. I will be sharing an apartment with another American who is on my program. My roommate's name is Brianna, and she goes to Penn State. It sounds like it should be a good time. Here is a picture from an apartment similar to the one I will be living in. I will post actual pictures once I have moved in. For my kitchen I will have a stove top, but no oven or microwave. At least my cooking skills will have improved by the time I arrive back in the States at the end of June. I did have to cook for myself when I was living in South Africa this past summer, so it shouldn't be too hard, plus I won't have to be sharing the stove top with 10 other girls.

I received my course schedule just the other day, and I am pleased to report that I was enrolled in my three top choice courses. I will
be taking...
1.) Regulating Cultural and Religious Diversity in the Netherlands
2.)
Social Trends, Social Problems and Social Policies in the Netherlands
3.)
Experiencing Differences
I am also signed up for a fourth class, but I will be dropped from it two weeks into the semester. That course is... Social Theories of Sexuality
Religious Diversity meets Tuesdays from 5:00 PM until 7:45 PM. Social Trends meets on Thursdays from 10:00 AM until 12:45 PM, and Experiencing Differences meets from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM on Wednesday for lecture, and then again from either 3:00 until 4:45 or 5:00 until 6:45 for discussion. The discussion group time has yet to be decided upon. I am very excited.

Well, that is all that has really developed out of study abroad. I leave on January 29th out of Boston, MA at 9:55 PM and arrive in Amsterdam at 11:00 AM on the 30th. I will be staying at a hotel the first night, and then move into my apartment on the 31st. Well, until again when we will meet in Amsterdam.
